GE3: Is Indifference killing your interest?

 Hi,

Are you experiencing lack of concern, interest, sympathy or empathy? Alternatively have you come across someone who is
distracted? Well then you must know this could be signs of  indifference.

Indifference is a defense against being hurt, by life.

If the person is unable to recognise and deal with dissatisfaction effectively as discussed in the previous article, it will lead to becoming indifferent and disinterested in even trying to make things better.

How to deal with indifference?

1. When you feel that you are unable to have positive feelings towards a person or a project, you need to step back and distance yourself from it.
2. Re-look at the issues that have made you lose interest in them, are you being reasonable?
3. Always give issues and people the benefit of doubt. This will keep your mind at peace and allow you to look at the other side of the story.
4. Pay greater attention to something you must have missed, in your enthusiasm to achieve your goal or in trying to get the desired response.
5. After you have done all of the above, leave things be, concentrate on something more interesting that you would love to do, and let time take care of the issue, that has caused you to be indifferent towards it.
6. No matter what the circumstance check yourself against losing empathy or sympathy towards others and yourself.

Remember that you never lose until you give up.

If you think that the person or project is not responding to you the way you hoped they/it would, then let it go. Don’t be disheartened, just think that each one has their role to perform on this earth. So probably this is how it is supposed to be.

Hope these points will help you stay motivated inspite of things moving slower or coming to a standstill and seeming to take forever to complete.

If this feeling of indifference is ignored and you stay in that emotional place, you may lose out greater opportunities that come knocking on your door.

Moreover, without you even realising irritability may slowly start creeping up on you. My next article is on Irritability and how to deal with it.
